Music and Audio

SPOTTED!

On March 23, 2024, I had the opportunity to produce an educational animation aimed at raising awareness about the Spotted Lanternfly and other invasive species, showcased at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). The event attracted approximately 3000 visitors, and I engaged actively with the audience to provide education on this important issue.

My approach: As part of a 12-member student team, I assumed the roles of animation producer and video director, overseeing the collective efforts from concept to completion. My collaboration with the Design Lead was integral in maintaining fidelity to our artistic vision. I personally crafted one atmospheric video and two educational pieces tailored for families with children. On the day of the event, I took an active role in managing the team and established a detailed schedule to ensure the event ran smoothly.

Equipment: For this project, we utilized an iPad Pro 15-inch, Procreate, Procreate Dreams, and Adobe Premiere Pro as our primary equipment and software tools.

While photographing the event, I focused on capturing the essence and emotions of the moment while carefully hiding children's faces to respect privacy.

THE ART OF THRIFTING: A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH

Kenza shares her insights on sustainable fashion, offering practical tips for making environmentally conscious clothing choices. As the creative director, audio engineer, editor and cinematographer, this project was a chance for me to leverage most of my skills.

My approach: In November 2023, I had the privilege of welcoming Kenza to Toronto. A longtime friend, brave enough to dive into her passion of ethical fashion. Kenza's commitment distinguishes her as a compelling individual, prompting me to interview her to share her inspiring journey with a wider audience. Given Kenza's dynamic personality, I found video to be the most effective medium for storytelling. The interview was enhanced with a series of b-rolls to make the narrative visually engaging. Recognizing that compelling videos are complemented by high-quality audio and an awareness of Kenza's melodious voice, I composed a song that we recorded together. This collaboration introduced a distinctive element to the video, amplifying its overall appeal. The final step involved merging all elements, ensuring the audio was well-balanced to provide clarity for both the music and dialogue.

Equipment & Softwares: DJI Ronin-SC, Rode NT1, Focusrite Scarlett 4i4, Panasonic Lumix DCFZ1000M2 Digital Camera, Adobe Premiere, Protools, MacBook Pro M1.

BIRD WATCHING: A DAY AT TOMMY THOMSON PARK

In the fall of 2023, I had the remarkable chance to join the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) for an enthralling bird monitoring session. The experience was so enriching that I felt compelled to capture it in a video.

My approach: I took advantage of the day to refine my videography skills, aiming to capture the TRCA team's efforts from various angles. This allowed me to highlight the fascinating ecological monitoring processes they employ, as well as to illustrate the challenges birds face in urban settings. Striving for authenticity, I composed the background music to create an engaging rhythm, enhancing viewer engagement and appealing to a broader audience.

Equipment & Softwares: For this project, I utilized a Panasonic Lumix DCFZ1000M2 Digital Camera, edited the footage with Adobe Premiere, mixed the audio with Pro Tools, and recorded the music using a guitar and a MacBook Pro M1.
